- What: NBA Regular Season Game
- When: April 2, 2025
- Who: San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets
- Time: 6:00 p.m. PST
- Where: Ball Arena (Denver, CO)
The San Antonio Spurs have been going through a tough period. They face five probable playoff contenders and have lost all five games by an average margin of 19.5 points.
Things won’t get any easier for them on Wednesday as they travel to Denver to face the Nuggets.
However, they can gain some confidence from their victory at Ball Arena earlier this season, thanks to Victor Wembanyama’s stellar performance.
With Wemby out for the remainder of the season, the Spurs must lean on their younger players to find success.
Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic had a remarkable game, finishing with 61 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Unfortunately for him, the Nuggets lost 140-139 in double overtime despite having a one-point lead with seconds to go.
This setback impacts Denver’s chances for the second seed, as Houston now holds a two-game advantage with only six games left to play.
One has to consider how much energy remains after such a grueling matchup. Jokic and Christian Braun played 53 minutes each, while Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook logged 47 and 38 minutes.
Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. missed the last game but might return for the upcoming contest.
Given the circumstances, I’m somewhat reluctant to back Denver to cover the spread. San Antonio has posed challenges for them in both encounters earlier this season, winning one matchup and taking the other to overtime.
Considering Jokic’s potential fatigue and the Nuggets’ recent back-to-back losses to the Bulls and Wizards, I’m willing to take a risk and pick San Antonio to cover this 9.5-point spread.
Take the Spurs to cover the spread in this one against the Nuggets.
Best Bet: Spurs +9.5 points at -110 odds
