The Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Minnesota currently holds the seventh spot in the Western Conference with an overall record of 31-25 and a conference record of 23-14.

On the other hand, Houston is positioned fourth in the Western Conference, boasting a season record of 34-21 and a conference record of 20-13. Earlier this month, Minnesota defeated Houston in their last encounter, winning by a score of 127-114.

Minnesota

The Minnesota Timberwolves are on their way to Houston following a victory against Oklahoma City last Thursday, where they won with a score of 116-101.

This marks their fourth win in the last six games. After completing a brief two-game homestand, the Timberwolves will play one road game before returning home on Sunday.

This season, the Timberwolves have leaned heavily on their defense to secure wins rather than relying on their offense.

They rank fourth in the league for points allowed per game, giving up an average of 108.1 points. Their defensive strength comes from effectively limiting quality shot opportunities for their opponents.

Minnesota stands seventh in opponent two-point shooting percentage at 45.6% and fifth in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 34.7%.

While these defensive statistics are impressive, the Timberwolves’ offense has faced challenges in generating quality shots, placing them 19th in two-point shooting percentage at 46%.

Houston

The Houston Rockets faced a defeat last Thursday against the Golden State Warriors, ending with a score of 105-98. This marks the seventh loss in their last nine games.

The Rockets are in the midst of a four-game homestand, where they have managed a record of 2-1.

This season, the Houston defense has been impressive, ranking sixth in the league for points allowed, with an average of 108.6 points per game.

While they excel at limiting quality shots from opponents, they also frequently regain possession.

The Rockets rank fifth in the league for opponents’ two-point shooting percentage at 45.4% and tenth for three-point shooting percentage at 35.5%.

Coupling this with their tenth-place ranking in steals and eighth in defensive rebounds, it’s clear that their strong defensive performance has been a crucial factor in securing victories.

Timberwolves-Rockets Best Bet

The Houston Rockets hold an over/under record of 3-7 in their last 10 matchups.

When analyzing the offensive and defensive averages of both teams this season, as well as their performance in the last three games and at home versus away, we arrive at a projected total of 217.

Taking into account the average pace of both teams at 102.3 possessions, the final projected total increases to 222. While this figure exceeds the threshold, it’s important to note that both teams are dealing with significant injuries.

This is particularly evident for Houston, which has seen its scoring drop from a season average of 112.7 points per game to just 103.7 in their last three outings due to these injuries.

Given these factors, I am leaning towards the under at 219.5.

Best Bet: Under 219.5 Points at -105 odds.
