The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels could not make it three-straight against the Wyoming Cowboys in Tuesday night’s 63-61 loss at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Runnin’ Rebels had four players scoring in double-figures. Dedan Thomas, Jr. led the team, scoring 17 points and four assists.

Wyoming was led by Obi Agbim, scoring 19 points and shooting five 3-pointers.

The Cowboys shot 14 three-points in the first half. In the second half, they went 9-of-14 from 3-point land.

With the Runnin’ Rebels being down by 10 points with less than one minute to play, UNLV forged back, going on an 8-0 run.

UNLV tried to close the game out at the last second. Thomas, Jr. attempted a fadeaway jumper from the baseline that would have sent the game into overtime, but he couldn’t entirely convert.

We just didn’t come out with the same kind of punch and the same fight as Wyoming did and more times than not in this league, the team that plays harder for 40 minutes is going to end up winning and that’s what happened tonight,” UNLV coach Kevin Kruger said,

Next up, the Runnin’ Rebels will host New Mexico on Saturday at noon. at the Thomas & Mack Center.
