The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels knocked down No. 22 Utah State with an impressive 65-62 win at the Thomas & Mack Center.
This was the first victory for the Runnin’ Rebels (10-7, 4-2 MW) over a ranked opponent this season and their eighth win in the last 12 games against Top 25 opponents.
Jalen Hill led the Runnin’ Rebels, scoring 15 points and eight rebounds. Julian Rishwain scored 13 points with four 3-pointers.
Dedan Thomas, Jr. led the Runnin’ Rebels on a 7-0 run to give them the win over the Aggies (16-2,6-1), sparked by a 3-pointer from Rishwain with 18 seconds left.
“Proud of them, happy for them. Unbelievable fight. To get up off the mat after last week was a great thing to see, but as we know in this conference, the next one is tough no matter where it is, who it is,” UNLV coach Kevin Kruger told media members. “Felt like our defense was the focal point tonight, and it led to a lot of good offensive possessions. When we do that, we have pretty good days.”
The Runnin’ Rebels will take another road trip to play at San Diego State on Saturday at 5 p.m. The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
