Three Takeaways in Lady Rebels Win over Colorado State

The Lady Rebels are now 12-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play after an amazing victory over Colorado State (12-5, 3-1) 70-61.

Aaliyah Alexander led the Lady Rebels, scoring 21 points and shooting 7-for-13 from the floor. She also went 2-of-4 from the three-point line and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Four Lady Rebels grabbed five rebounds each, including Alexander, McKinna Brackens, Alyssa Brown, and Meadow Roland.

Kiara Jackson was the second-leading scorer for the Lady Rebels with 19 points, while Roland and Amarachi Kimpson scored nine each.

Kimpson also led the Lady Rebels in assists with five.

The Lady Rebels turned up the heat with their smothering defense, forcing 18 Rams turnovers. The Lady Rebels scored 21 points off turnovers.

UNLV also managed to commit only five turnovers this game – a season low.

The Lady Rebels went on a 7-0 run with 3:48 left in the fourth quarter to pull away with a double-digit lead to bring the score to 68-57, which was the largest lead of the game.

What’s Next for the Lady Rebels?

The Lady Rebels travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for another Mountain West showdown as they take on New Mexico on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT.

The Lobos head into the game 4-0 in the Mountain West Conference.
