According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Raiders are hiring Norv Turner, who is coming out of retirement to join Las Vegas’ coaching staff. Turner previously served as the Raiders’ head coach from 2004 to 2005.

Norv Turner will reunite with his son, Scott, who is the Raiders’ passing-game coordinator. According to Pelissero, Scott Turner is a strong contender to assume play-calling responsibilities following the dismissal of Getsy.

In addition to Getsy, the Raiders also parted ways with offensive line coach James Cregg and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello, leaving several coaching positions to be filled in Las Vegas.

With his extensive coaching background, Turner brings a significant amount of experience to the Raiders’ staff. He has held head coaching roles in the NFL with teams such as the Raiders, Washington, and the Chargers.

He has held the position of offensive coordinator for several teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, where he achieved the remarkable feat of winning two Super Bowls.

He also was the offensive coordinator for the Chargers, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings, and Carolina Panthers.

His final role in the NFL was with the Panthers in 2019, serving as the special assistant to the head coach. He retired after completing that role.
