Raiders’ late rally falls short

Raiders’ comeback effort stalls against Chiefs

The Las Vegas Raiders suffered another defeat in Week 8, falling 27-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs. A late-game touchdown brought them within striking distance, but penalties and turnovers cost the Raiders, stretching their losing streak to four games.

The game began with Kansas City scoring a touchdown on its first possession. Raiders QBGardner Minshew connected with Jakobi Meyers for a score, tying the game at 7-7. Penalties and mistakes disrupted the Raiders’ offense.

The Raiders briefly held a 10-7 lead after a 54-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson in the second quarter. The Chiefs regained control. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found tight end Travis Kelce for a touchdown. A field goal followed, pushing the Chiefs to a 17-10 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Raiders’ defense intercepted Mahomes, giving them an opportunity but the Raiders’ offense turned the ball over on downs.

The fourth quarter highlighted both the Raiders’ persistence and struggles. A Gardner Minshew fumble returned possession to the Chiefs. Mahomes connected with wide receiver Xavier Worthy, extending the lead to 27-13. Minshew found DJ Turner on a late-game touchdown, narrowing the gap to 27-20.

Kansas City held on, dropping the Raiders to a four-game losing streak. Penalties and costly turnovers leaving them to face a steep climb to get their season back on track.
