HENDERSON, Nev. — The Las Vegas Raiders have opened the 2026 season 2-0 without one of the most important players on their roster. That could change Sunday. Raiders tight end Brock Bowers is expected to make his season debut against the New Orleans Saints, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Bowers has not played since Dec. 21, 2025, and has not been part of a Raiders victory since the 2025 season opener on Sept. 7. His return would give Las Vegas a major offensive weapon just as the team attempts to build momentum under head coach Klint Kubiak.
The Raiders deserve credit for getting off to a 2-0 start without Bowers. The dynamic tight end is one of the team’s biggest offensive threats, but Las Vegas has found ways to win despite his absence.
That matters because the Raiders have been able to establish confidence without relying on their young star to carry the offense. Bowers’ return, however, could give the unit another dimension.
His ability to create mismatches against linebackers and safeties can open opportunities for the Raiders’ receivers, running backs and veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. It also gives Kubiak another versatile piece to incorporate into an offense that is still developing its identity.
A Different Raiders Offense With Bowers
Las Vegas has already demonstrated that it can win without Bowers. The next challenge is determining how much better the offense can become with him. Bowers’ presence can force defenses to adjust their personnel and coverage plans.
He can line up in multiple positions, create opportunities in the middle of the field and provide Cousins with another reliable option on crucial downs.
That could be particularly valuable as the Raiders face tougher competition throughout the AFC West. The Saints matchup offers Bowers a chance to return without needing to immediately become the centerpiece of the offense.
The Raiders can ease him back into action while continuing to rely on the structure that has helped them reach 2-0.
