- What: NFL Regular Season Game
- When: October 24, 2024
- Who: Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Rams
- Time: 5:15 p.m. PST
- Where: Sofi Stadium (Los Angeles, CA)
Week 8 in the NFL starts with the Los Angeles Rams hosting the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football at Sofi Stadium. This matchup is likely to see considerable public backing for the Vikings.
Minnesota is off to a strong start at 5-1 and has established themselves as one of the elite teams in the league. Meanwhile, the Rams sit at 2-4 and struggled to get past a struggling Raiders team last week.
Despite this, I feel that Los Angeles will find a way to pull off an outright win.
Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota’s aggressive blitzing strategies have resulted in the highest pressure rate in the NFL.
However, their pass defense has revealed some vulnerabilities in the last three games. They have allowed yardage totals of 389, 244, and 280, which ranks third-highest in the league during that span.
The Vikings will be without TE T.J. Hockenson tonight, making things more difficult for quarterback Sam Darnold.
The #Vikings have elevated DL Jalen Redmond and TE Robert Tonyan to the active roster for tonight's game.
TE T.J. Hockenson and G Dalton Risner have both been downgraded to OUT.

The Vikings have earned some credibility based on their performance over the first six games.
Still, they’re facing a challenging situation with the quick turnaround after an emotional loss to the Lions. It might be difficult for them to bounce back in just a few days of rest.
This feels like an awful spot for the Vikings.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams have shown improved defensive play in recent weeks, and with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell’s prior experience working with Sean McVay, there are potential strategic insights McVay could share with defensive coordinator Chris Shula.
On the offensive side, the return of wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua should provide a significant boost for Los Angeles.

McVay also boasts a strong record of 6-2 straight-up and 5-2-1 against the spread on Thursday nights throughout his career.
While that may seem trivial, preparing for short weeks is challenging, and McVay clearly has a knack for handling it.
Vikings-Rams Best Bet
I am concerned about the depth of the Rams offensive line facing Brian Flores’ formidable defense.
However, quarterback Matthew Stafford should be able to release the ball more quickly now that he has increased confidence in his receiving corps.
Overall, I have more faith in Stafford than I do in Darnold, which is crucial in a matchup like this.
While I was tempted to take the 3 points on the spread with the Rams, this feels like a situation where the Rams have the advantage. The moneyline odds of +125 for the Rams were too tantalizing.
The Rams on the moneyline at +125 is the best bet in this one.
