The Golden State Warriors will start their post-Klay Thompson era on Wednesday with an away game against the rebuilding Portland Trail Blazers.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are counting on All-Star guard Steph Curry to lead the charge tonight. His performance will be crucial in helping the team cover the spread. Curry averaged 26.4 points per game last year to go along with 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
Guard Buddy Hield, known for his sharpshooting, will complement Curry in the backcourt, making it a potentially formidable duo. Although Hield is expected to come off the bench, he will likely see significant playing time. Hield averaged 12.2 points while shooting 38.9 percent from three for the Sixers.
New challenge.
New opportunity.

Forward Andrew Wiggins is also under pressure to improve. While he’s a strong defender, he must increase his scoring output to around 20 points per game.
Although he has averaged 18.5 points in his career, he scored only 13.2 points per game last year. The Warriors need him to improve his scoring to stay competitive in the Western Conference.
The Warriors will adopt a small lineup, featuring Jonathan Kuminga at the four and Draymond Green at the center position.
Guard Brandin Podziemski is anticipated to take on a more prominent role as a starter alongside Curry in the backcourt, following his average of 9.2 points per game during his rookie season last year.
If the Warriors maintain their defensive solidity, they should be in an excellent position to secure the win.
Portland Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers are happy last season is in the past and look forward to improving this year.
Portland has the opportunity to be a surprise team in the West. Are they a contender? No. However, they can make a play-in appearance and show the NBA community that they mean business.
It started last year when they drafted point guard Scoot Henderson, and now, with a full season under his belt, he should see strides. This offseason, they drafted center Donovan Clingan, who won back-to-back national championships with UConn.
The Blazers will miss guards Shaedon Sharpe, Matisse Thybulle, and center Robert Williams III in this game. Henderson, Sharpe, and guard Anfernee Simons are very talented … but young.

The more they play together and build chemistry, the better. This offseason, the Blazers traded guard Malcolm Brogdon to the Washington Wizards for forward Deni Avdija.
Avdija is one of the top young international players in the game. Last year, he averaged 14.7 points per game for Washington. Coming from Israel, his career took some time to develop, but he has the ability to make serious strides in a good system.
Last but not least, the team still has its best player, forward Jerami Grant. He averaged 21 points per game last season and is considered one of the more underrated players in the NBA.
Warriors-Blazers Best Bet
The Warriors had an impressive preseason with a revamped roster. They are expected to come out strong against a young Portland team in their season opener on Wednesday.
This Blazers roster is an odd collection of talented players. They will need some time to gel and build chemistry. The Warriors have a proven system and a much better coach.
I believe the Warriors will take control and secure their first win of the season’s first night. The spread is 6 points, and even though the Warriors are on the road, I believe they cover this one.
Warriors -6 points at -110 odds is the best bet in this one.
