On Friday night, the No. 7 Miami Hurricanes will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at the Hard Rock Stadium to kick off their Atlantic Coast Conference play.
Miami is favored by -17.5 points against Virginia Tech, with the over/under set at 54.5. With a 4-0 record, the Hurricanes have been a dominant force, scoring an average of over 50 points per game.
Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech was a popular choice to win the conference and compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff. The team retained 21 starters from the previous season when it won five of its last seven games.
However, coach Brent Pry’s team, despite the unexpected start, has the potential to bounce back. The season began with a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt in the opener, followed by another loss to Rutgers in the final non-conference matchup.

With these losses not occurring in ACC play, the team is more determined than ever to compete for and win the conference title.
To achieve this, Pry will rely on running back Bhayshul Tuten to maintain his impressive form. Tuten scored three touchdowns against Rutgers and has eight touchdowns this season.
On the defensive front, Antwaun Powell-Ryland has been a force to be reckoned with, leading the FBS with six sacks. The Hokies are also tied for 10th in the country in team sacks, a testament to their defensive prowess.
Miami
The Miami Hurricanes have dominated the ACC in the season’s first four weeks. Quarterback D’Eriq King leads a powerful offense with multiple weapons and great balance. The team is averaging an impressive 52.3 points and 605 yards per game, with 800 rushing yards and 6.1 yards per carry.
So far, 13 different players have scored offensive touchdowns, with wide receiver Xavier Restrepo standing out as one of the top pass catchers in college football.

In their recent game against USF, the Hurricanes faced a significant challenge when they found themselves trailing 15-14 late in the second quarter.
However, they displayed remarkable resilience, rallying to score 36 unanswered points. This impressive comeback led to a convincing 50-15 win, as they effectively shut down the Bulls’ offense in the second half.
These two teams are moving in different directions, with the ‘Canes rapid climb in the rankings being particularly impressive.
Hokies-Hurricanes Best Bet
If the Hokies doesn’t secure an early lead, their ball control strategy may be abandoned, leading to a challenging game. Ward has successfully connected with various players, and if the weather stays dry, he will deliver another strong performance.
I’ll take the Hurricanes to cover the 17.5-point spread in this one.
Can Nebraska stay perfect against Illinois in this Big Ten matchup?
