  • What: WNBA Regular Season Game
  • When: Wednesday, September 11th
  • Who:  Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever

  • Where: Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Indianapolis, IN)

The Las Vegas Aces, the two-time defending champions, are the only WNBA team to defeat the Indiana Fever this season consistently.

They can uphold this trend as they visit Gainbridge Fieldhouse tonight. A’ja Wilson, the overwhelming favorite for the WNBA MVP, is expected to return after missing one game.

Las Vegas Aces

Las Vegas played well for a month before the Olympic break but struggled with inconsistency. Recently, they’ve ramped up their energy and started resembling the two-time defending champions they are.

The Aces are one game ahead of the Seattle Storm for fourth place and aim to secure home-court advantage in the playoffs by maintaining their position.

A’ja Wilson has been exceptional in the Aces’ previous victories against the Fever.

On May 25, she contributed 29 points and 15 rebounds in a 99-80 win, and on July 2, she scored 28 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and made 5 blocks in an 88-69 win.

Indiana Fever

Indiana has been on a hot streak lately, winning eight of its last ten games. Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark have led the team, scoring almost 25 points per game.

They’re currently the second and third top scorers in the league since the break, right after A’ja Wilson.

However, the team has been struggling with defense.

They recently gave up 100 points to the Dream, and on average, they’ve been conceding 87.2 points per game since the break, making them the weakest defensive team among those heading to the playoffs.

Indiana has gone over the total in 24 out of 36 games. I prefer to focus on the total because the Fever have not covered the spread in their last five games, while the Aces have covered in their previous five games.

Aces-Fever Best Bet

While I believe the Aces win this game, the spread moved from 1.5 to 4.5 points when it was announced that A’ja Wilson would play in this game.

The Aces are the better team and should be favored, but I’m not going to target the spread or the moneyline in this game; I’m looking at the total.

The total also increased from 177 to 180 when Wilson was announced she would play. The best bet in this game is going to be Under 180 points.

The total feels a little high, despite both of these teams playing at a fast pace, I’m imagining an 85-80 game for the Aces.

Aces fall just short in their comeback against the Liberty
