When the Las Vegas Aces travel to the Barclays Center to face the New York Liberty, they’ll aim to extend their four-game winning streak.

The Liberty are on the verge of securing the top seed in the WNBA playoffs, while the Aces are looking to secure a first-round series at home as they pursue a third consecutive championship.

Las Vegas Aces

The Las Vegas Aces have doubled their total loss from the previous year and seem more vulnerable, especially compared to their two title runs.

The Aces are on a roll, winning four games in a row and covering the spread each time. Despite a slow start this season, their recent victory on the road against the Connecticut Sun shows their increasing dedication to defense.

The team’s experienced players are rising to the occasion and are focused on setting a higher standard of play as they aim for the championship.

The Aces have displayed a strong offense throughout the season but encountered struggles on the defensive end. Despite ranking fifth in defensive rating (100.1), the team has shown improvement recently.

In their last seven games, the Aces have limited six opponents to under 80 points, yielding an average of only 75.4 points per game over that period.

New York Liberty

This WNBA season, the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, who faced each other in last year’s finals, have taken different trajectories.

New York Liberty has maintained its superteam status and is leading the league standings. The Liberty have the advantage of being fresh and rested, unlike the Aces, who are in the midst of a late-season Eastern road swing.

The Liberty recently enjoyed almost a whole week of rest thanks to one of the unique quirks of the 2024 regular-season schedule.

Despite the Aces’ strong performance, the Liberty have the upper hand and the home-court advantage. With just six games left to play, the New York Liberty are three games ahead of second-place Minnesota.

The team is on the verge of securing the No. 1 seed for the WNBA playoffs and gaining home-court advantage throughout.

Aces-Liberty Best Bet

In both games, New York emerged victorious while holding their opponents to an average of just 74.5 points per game. Additionally, both games resulted in scores that fell below the set totals.

Both teams excel defensively, and neither frequently engages in high-scoring shootouts, which rules out taking the over.

Moreover, with the playoffs approaching, I anticipate both teams taking this game seriously and demonstrating strong defensive efforts.

I am seeing a total of 168, and I would take the under. This game will be determined on the defensive end of the ball.
