In an upcoming NL West game, the Seattle Mariners, who have been facing challenges this season, will play against the Oakland Athletics at the Oakland Coliseum on Thursday at 3:37 p.m. EST.

Despite their setbacks, the Mariners are favored to win with a -145 moneyline as they face the Athletics led by pitcher Joey Estes.

Both teams are eager for important division wins, making this game an intense showdown between determined competitors.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners rank 26th in runs scored, 30th in batting average, 25th in on-base percentage, and 29th in slugging in the majors this season.

Cal Raleigh has been a standout performer, hitting .207 with a .300 on-base percentage, 28 home runs, 84 RBIs, 5 stolen bases, and 58 runs scored.

Mitch Haniger has also contributed with a .207 average, 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, and 40 runs scored. Julio Rodriguez has posted a .259 average, .318 on-base percentage, 13 home runs, 47 RBIs, 20 stolen bases, and 54 runs scored.

In the last week, Julio Rodriguez has excelled with a .429 average, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, and 6 runs scored. Victor Robles is hitting .368 with a home run, 5 RBIs, and 3 runs scored, while Justin Turner has a .417 average, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored.

The team’s performance in the last week includes a .222 average, 8 home runs, and 27 runs scored in 6 games.

The current Mariners lineup has a combined 46 career at-bats against Joey Estes, hitting just .130. Cal Raleigh leads the team with a 3-7 record, including a double, 2 home runs, and 2 RBIs.

Julio Rodriguez has also contributed, going 1 for 6 with a solo home run and an RBI.

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics rank 25th in the majors in runs scored, 24th in batting average, 24th in on-base percentage, and 14th in slugging.

Brent Rooker has been a standout performer, hitting .294 this year with 33 home runs and 93 RBIs, along with eight stolen bases and 70 runs scored.

Shea Langeliers has also had a solid year, hitting .224 with a .286 on-base percentage, 25 home runs, 68 RBIs, and 50 runs scored. JJ Bleday is hitting .247 this year with a .328 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 69 runs scored.

Recent standout performances include Seth Brown hitting .423 in the last week with a triple, three home runs, ten RBIs, and four runs scored. Lawrence Butler has also been on fire, hitting .452 in the last week with six home runs, nine RBIs, and nine runs scored.

In the last week, Brent Rooker has hit .414 with three home runs, six RBIs, and seven runs scored. The Athletics collectively hit .282 in the last week with 17 home runs and 41 runs scored in seven games.

Looking at their history against Bryan Wood, current Athletics players have a combined 43 career at-bats with a batting average of just .070 against him.

Zack Gelof has two of the three hits, going 2-7 with a walk against Wood, while Nick Allen is 1-3. No player on the Athletics has an RBI or extra-base hit against Wood.

Mariners-A’s Best Bet

Bryan Woo is coming off his worst start since before the All-Star break, but he’s had a solid performance overall since then, going 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA in eight starts.

On the other hand, Joey Estes has been consistent lately, with a 3.03 ERA in his six starts in August, resulting in a 2-2 record for the Athletics. Both pitchers have been impressive, so late-game heroics might decide the game.

The Mariners are slightly outperforming their season average in scoring, but the Athletics have been even better.

I’d take the A’s to win this one on the moneyline as they’re underdogs, and the underdog has won every game in this series.

Can the A’s sweep the Mariners?
