  • What: MLB Regular Season Game
  • When: Wednesday, July 31
  • Who: Oakland Athletics vs. San Francisco Giants
  • Time: 9:45 p.m. ET
  • Where: Oracle Park (San Francisco, CA)

On Wednesday, July 31st, the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants will meet for the second game of their three-game series at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

Following a 5-2 win in the series opener, the Athletics will start Ross Stripling, aiming to maintain their momentum. Meanwhile, the Giants will turn to Logan Webb as they look to even the series.

The Giants are favored to win at a -200 on the money line.

Oakland Athletics

In the first game of the three-game series between the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants, JP Sears delivered an impressive performance, pitching seven innings with nine strikeouts and allowing no earned runs.

Offensively, Lawrence Butler and Brent Rooker were key contributors, leading the Athletics to a 5-2 victory.

Ross Stripling is set to start in game two, bringing his experience from 238 career games and 730 strikeouts to the mound.

The Athletics, currently holding a record of 45-64, rank 22nd in offense and 25th in defense this season.

San Francisco Giants

In the opening game of the three-game series between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland Athletics, Robbie Ray took the mound for the Giants, pitching 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and four earned runs.

Despite strong offensive efforts from Patrick Bailey and Marco Luciano, the Giants were defeated by the A’s, 5-2.

Logan Webb is slated to start the second game, bringing an impressive season and career record to the matchup.

The Giants, currently holding a power ranking of 13, are ranked 14th in offense and 19th in defense, with an overall record of 53-56.

On the other hand, Oakland has struggled against San Francisco recently, losing all three of their last matchups.

A’s-Giants Best Bet

The San Francisco Giants are currently in fourth place in the MLB National League West division, holding a record of 53-46.

The team has averaged 4.39 runs and 8.25 hits per game this season, with a batting average of .245 and an on-base percentage of .316.

However, they face a challenge with a run differential of -19, as opponents have averaged 4.57 runs and 8.65 hits per game against them. Despite this, the Giants have been resilient, with an overall run line record of 51-58 and a home run line record of 24-31.

Recently, they have struggled to cover the run line in their last two games but have successfully covered in four of their last seven matchups.

The Athletics are currently in fifth place in the American League West division with a record of 45-64.

Considering the pitching match-up, I’d  bet on the San Francisco Giants on the money line in the upcoming MLB game against the Oakland Athletics.

Can the streaking A’s clinch their first winning month since 2022?
