On Sunday afternoon, the Oakland A’s will take on the Los Angeles Angels in the final game of their four-game series at Angel Stadium.

The A’s, currently in 5th place in the AL West with a record of 43-63, will start right-handed pitcher Hogan Harris, who holds a 2-3 record and a 2.98 ERA.

The Angels, in 4th place with a 45-59 record, will counter with right-hander Jose Soriano, who has a 6-7 record and a 3.51 ERA. Oakland has won two of the three games in the series so far.

Betting odds favor the Angels, with the current line set at Los Angeles -135.

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland A’s secured a 5-4 victory over the Angels in Los Angeles, achieving their first winning month since July 2022.

Outfielder Brent Rooker hit his 25th home run of the season, while first baseman Seth Brown contributed three hits and three RBIs.

Starter Paul Blackburn earned the win by pitching five innings, and RHP Lucas Erceg secured his third save of the season.

The A’s have been strong offensively, scoring five or more runs in nine of their last 11 games.

However, the team has faced injuries, with starting pitcher Luis Medina undergoing Tommy John surgery and both left fielder Esteury Ruiz and first baseman Tyler Soderstrom on the IL.

Oakland currently ranks 21st in offense and 25th in defense, with a season record of 44-63.

Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels have endured consecutive losses in their home series against the Oakland A’s, including a 5-4 setback on Friday despite initially leading 4-0.

The pitching staff struggled to hold the lead. Starter Carson Fulmer pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three earned runs. Relief pitcher Hans Crouse took the loss, giving up two runs in just 0.1 innings.

Despite these losses, the Angels’ offense has been productive, scoring four or more runs in three of their last four games.

However, pitcher Jose Soriano has had a tough time against the A’s, posting a 0-2 record and a high ERA. Center fielder Mike Trout is nearing a return from a knee injury.

The Angels currently rank 29th overall, with a power ranking of 26th in offense and 27th in defense, holding a record of 45-60.

Oakland, meanwhile, has thrived in their last three matchups against Los Angeles.

A’s-Angels Best Bet

Hogan Harris has shown strong pitching this season, consistently holding opponents to three runs or fewer in his last nine starts.

His recent shutout of the Astros in Oakland, over 6.2 innings, underscores his effectiveness. Harris has maintained a 3.54 ERA in road games this season.

In contrast, Jose Soriano has struggled against the A’s, allowing nine earned runs and three home runs in just 5.1 innings.

His challenges extend to road games this year, with a 2-4 record, a 4.78 ERA, and a 1.31 WHIP across six starts and one relief appearance.

Historically, Oakland has performed well against the Angels, winning six of their last seven matchups, including two wins in Oakland earlier this month.

The Angels have not capitalized on home-field advantage, winning only 41.5% of their home games.

Given these statistics, the A’s are likely to secure a road victory in Sunday’s game. I’d take the A’s on the moneyline in this one.

Will the A’s win the series against the Angels?
