UFC has announced they’ve joined forces with the WWE to bring an event to UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The wrestling promotion will host their first event at the complex on June 9. NXT Battleground will be the event taking place at UFC Apex, furthering WWE’s footprint in Sin City.
With both businesses now under the TKO Holdings umbrella, it opens the door for more collaborations and opportunities. It can also bring more fans and revenue to TKO holdings, satisfying their shareholders.
Therefore, there are plenty of reasons why more collaborations are on the way. After all, it brings two different types of combat together. With the two brands in the same company, the possibilities are endless.
How Can the WWE and UFC Collaborate?
For one, there can be more events held between the two brands. Whether it’s at the training facility or the UFC hosting a Wrestlemania-type event, expanding on the partnership can boost TKO Holdings’s bottom line. WWE having NXT Battleground go down at UFC Apex is just the start.
There could be a WWE Championship match that could happen at a UFC event. While there might be issues with a pre-determined sport happening at an unpredictable sport like MMA, TKO Holdings could easily overlook this.
Both promotions can also have their superstars on their respective brands. For example, WWE fans would mark out at Conor McGregor entering the Royal Rumble. Why not see a WWE superstar like CM Punk get in the octagon? As mentioned before, the possibilities are endless.
For TKO Holdings, Holding Two Iconic Brands Helps
Of course, all this hinges on what direction TKO Holdings wants to take. Where do they want to go next? What gimmicks and big-time events should they host next? June 9 will lay the template out for TKO Holdings to further expand the fruitful partnership between the two brands.
For WWE and UFC fans, it’s an exciting time to be a fan of either brand. With pro wrestling returning to prominence and the UFC having a successful UFC 300 event, the sky’s the limit for both promotions.
