The Las Vegas Aces are bolstering their frontcourt with the signing of Megan Gustafson on Feb. 1.

The former AP Player of the Year is joining the two-time defending champions on a two-year, $190,820 deal, according to Spotrac. It’ll keep her in town through the 2025 season.

Aces GM Natalie Williams announced the deal on Feb. 1, wasting no time in bringing the 6-foot-4 center to Sin City. The free agency period began on Jan. 21, but teams couldn’t sign anyone until Feb. 1.

“She is a true blue-collar worker, who does all the little things that help teams win championships,” said Williams in a statement. She praised Gustafson for her footwork, savvy finishing around the basket and ability to knock down threes.

The team also announced the signings of Kiah Stokes, Sydney Colson, Morgan Jones and Kamaria McDaniel on Feb. 1.

Megan Gustafson Excited to Join the Aces

Gustafson is entering her sixth season in the WNBA after spending the previous five with the Dallas Wings, Washington Mystics and Phoenix Mercury. She brings a wealth of experience (113 games) and a willingness to learn from the best.

“I am super excited to play for Becky Hammon, and to play alongside such prestigious players that Vegas has. I can’t wait for the season, and to help the Aces go for a three-peat title!” said Gustafson. She wanted a team with a ‘championship culture’ and she found it in the Aces.

The Iowa Hawkeye product is coming off a 2023 campaign that saw her post career-highs in minutes (15.1), points (7.9), rebounds (3.9), assists (0.7) and blocks (0.4) per game with the Mercury.

Gustafson is spending her offseason with the London Lions of the British Basketball League, but is also representing Spain in the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. She’s averaging 11.6 points and 5.6 rebounds in the BBL and has been one of Spain’s most impressive players.

She adds even more depth to an Aces frontcourt that already features Stokes, A’ja Wilson, Candace Parker, Alysha Clark and Kirsten Bell.
