The Lakers have found significant success in Summer League play. They finished 2-1 in the California Classic and have won all four games in the Las Vegas Summer League, securing a spot in the Semifinals.
The Lakers will play the Warriors on Saturday. The matchup will be played at the Thomas & Mack Center at 5:30 p.m. PT and will air on Prime Video.
Lakers-Warriors matchups are always compelling due to the regional rivalry. With LA’s only Summer League loss coming against Golden State in the California Classic, this game offers the Lakers a chance to avenge that defeat and advance to the title game.
Several players have distinguished themselves on this year’s Lakers Summer League roster.
Adou Thiero has scored in double figures in every Las Vegas game and has demonstrated notable athleticism. Cameron Carr has played with confidence and appears ready for a rotational role. Arthur Kaluma has delivered breakout performances and is making a strong case for a two-way contract.
Lakers’ Performance in Summer League
Coach Ty Abbott has guided the Lakers to strong performances on both offense and defense. Chris Mañon has anchored the defense, and LA has dominated each of their wins in Nevada. The team is now two victories away from its second Las Vegas Summer League championship.
The Lakers won their first Las Vegas Summer League championship in 2017 with a roster that included Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Ivica Zubac, Alex Caruso, and Josh Hart.
While it remains to be seen which players will have long NBA careers, this group has been impressive and exciting to watch. As the Lakers focus on becoming younger and more athletic, this Summer League team is an encouraging indicator for the future of LA basketball.
If the Lakers defeat the Warriors, they will face the winner of the Rockets-Grizzlies matchup on Sunday for an opportunity to win another Las Vegas Summer League title.
