A group planning to build an NBA-ready arena in Las Vegas has acquired the final parcel of land required for the venue. It is located at the south end of the Strip.
Diamond Arena reports additional properties are in escrow. Chetak Development has also acquired land directly south of the site.
The plan includes an underground tunnel connecting the arena and terminal. This will offer secure access for teams, VIP guests, and others.
Diamond Arena will be a 21,212-seat, purpose-built NBA venue. Project leadership and funding sources have not been disclosed. However, Letizia stated it is not affiliated with any single casino or hospitality group.
Earlier this year, the NBA announced it would consider expanding to Las Vegas. This has prompted questions about potential home venues for a new team.
Last week, Golden Knights owner Bill Foley announced plans to bid for a franchise. He indicated he would base the team at T-Mobile Arena, which is majority-owned by MGM Resorts.
Las Vegas Mayor Shelley previously stated she would propose a vacant downtown site near the World Market Center to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
In April, Starr Vegas Development, Inc. announced a $10 billion proposal that includes a 25,000-seat basketball and concert arena. The campus would be located near Las Vegas Boulevard and Starr Avenue in the south valley.
