Shane Mosley Jr. has waited a long time for this moment. Now, he finally has it. Mosley Jr. will headline his first fight under Zuffa Boxing when he faces Serhii Bohachuk in a 10-round middleweight bout Sunday at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, streaming on Paramount+.
For Mosley Jr. (22-5, 12 KOs), the opportunity represents more than just another fight it’s validation. “It’s my first main event… it means the world to me,” Mosley said. “It shows me that people see my hard work.”
Despite being the son of Hall of Famer Shane Mosley, Mosley Jr.’s path has been anything but easy.
Momentum Then a Setback
Mosley Jr. turned a corner in recent years, winning five straight fights with notable victories over:
- Gabriel Rosado
- Daniel Jacobs
However, his momentum was halted in December with a unanimous decision loss to Jesus Ramos Jr. in a fight for the interim WBC title. “I felt like I could have done better… if I changed a few things, I could have won,” Mosley said.
A Tough Test in Bohachuk
Standing in his way is Bohachuk (27-3, 24 KOs), a relentless pressure fighter known for his volume and durability.
He’s already proven his toughness by:
- Edging Radzhab Butaev in a split decision
- Dropping Vergil Ortiz Jr. twice in a narrow loss
Bohachuk’s aggressive style mirrors what Mosley faced against Ramos something he believes will actually work in his favor.
“I Don’t Like Bullies”
Mosley Jr. isn’t looking to avoid the pressure. He plans to meet it head-on. “The come-forward style is a bully style, and I don’t like bullies,” Mosley said. “Bullies don’t like being confronted.”
What’s at Stake
At 35 years old, Mosley Jr. knows this is a pivotal moment.
A win would:
- Launch a new winning streak
- Establish him as a serious contender
- Validate his move to Zuffa Boxing
A loss could make the climb back even steeper.
