MIAMI — Aaron Pico is back on track and back in the win column. After a shaky UFC debut last year, Pico delivered a composed and calculated performance at UFC 327, earning a unanimous decision victory over former Bellator champion Patricio Freire.

The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28, as Pico showcased the well-rounded skillset that has long made him one of the most intriguing talents in the sport.

In a matchup featuring two seasoned veterans of the Bellator era, Pico’s evolution was on full display. The fight largely played out on the feet, where Pico’s crisp boxing and shot selection set the tone early. He mixed levels effectively, attacking both the head and body, while keeping Freire from establishing any consistent rhythm.

Freire, known for his dangerous counters and leg kicks, attempted to slow Pico down, but struggled to find clean openings against the younger fighter’s disciplined approach.

The turning point came in the second round. Pico landed a sharp combination that rocked Freire and briefly sent him to the canvas the biggest moment of the fight. From there, Pico seized control, dictating pace and positioning as he entered the final round with clear momentum.

Composure Seals the Deal

With his back against the wall, Freire pressed forward in the third, looking for a finish. But Pico didn’t waver. Instead, he stayed composed, avoided unnecessary risks, and continued to land the cleaner, more effective shots. A few timely takedowns further neutralized Freire’s offense and ensured the fight remained firmly in Pico’s control. When the final horn sounded, the outcome was clear.

The win marks Pico’s first victory since February 2024, and more importantly, a crucial step forward in his UFC run.

After years of hype, setbacks, and development across multiple promotions, Pico’s performance at UFC 327 served as a reminder of his potential and a signal that he may finally be putting all the pieces together inside the Octagon.

What’s Next?

With a signature win over a respected veteran like Freire, Pico re-enters the conversation in a stacked division. If this version of Aaron Pico continues to show up disciplined, composed, and technically sharp the ceiling remains as high as ever.

And at UFC 327, he made one thing clear: He’s not just here to compete he’s here to rise.
