The Las Vegas Raiders are once again at the center of offseason headlines and this time, it involves one of the faces of the franchise. A blockbuster trade that would have sent star pass rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens fell apart after a failed physical, creating one of the most high-profile trade collapses in recent NFL memory. Now, the question isn’t just what happened it’s what happens next.
Former Los Angeles Rams legend Aaron Donald weighed in and didn’t sugarcoat it. “For me, it would be a little awkward,” Donald said on The Inner Circle podcast. “You move on, then you go back… now I’m back in your household again.”
Donald went even further, questioning whether a player in that situation would even want to stay. “Would I wanna be there? Would I wanna stay there? I’d kind of be more trying to figure something else… I don’t know if I’d be comfortable in that building.”
It’s a sentiment shared by many around the league: once a team tries to move you, the relationship can change sometimes permanently.
A Rare, High-Profile Trade Collapse
Trades falling through due to failed physicals aren’t new in the NFL. But rarely do they involve a player of Crosby’s caliber a cornerstone defender and emotional leader for a franchise still trying to find stability.
The situation has quickly become one of the biggest stories of the offseason, raising concerns about both Crosby’s future and the Raiders’ locker room dynamic.
But Maxx Crosby isn’t just any player. Despite requesting a trade, Crosby has long expressed a deep connection to the Raiders organization one that doesn’t easily fade. Following the collapse of the deal, Crosby struck a tone of acceptance rather than frustration.
“No one will ever admit what the real truth is,” Crosby said on The Rush. “Ultimately, it doesn’t matter. I am where I’m supposed to be.” That mindset suggests something different from the typical post-trade fallout. Instead of pushing harder for an exit, Crosby appears ready at least publicly to move forward.
