Reebok is looking to get back into basketball, with Chicago Sky star Angel Reese leading the charge. She will represent Reebok through a new partnership with the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL), an Australia-based professional women’s basketball league. The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) launched 15 years later, in 1996, and the WNBL has continued to grow alongside the rising popularity of women’s basketball worldwide.
Undoubtedly, Reese’s influence and profile are unmatched. Reebok was so confident in the partnership that it did not need to bring in Shaquille O’Neal or Allen Iverson to help close the deal. This agreement is not just about shoes, either. It is also designed to support emerging Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) players.
As part of the rollout, Reebok is launching the Start Her Season Right initiative, which will provide essential gear to players who are beginning their professional careers.
Sadly, many young athletes run into financial challenges early in their careers. With so much time and money poured into the sport they love, support from Reese and the league could be life-changing for the next wave of stars.
