With Saturday being when the final injury reports are released for Monday’s game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, this was the last time the Raiders could get updates on the status of tight end Brock Bowers.
Despite Bowers’s knee injury not being as serious as initially anticipated, he did not participate in practice on either Thursday or Friday. It was beginning to emerge as a serious concern that Bowers would not be ready to go on Monday, making a matchup against the Chargers more difficult than it already was.
On Saturday, the Raiders got the final decision on tbe availability of their players.
Bowers appears ready to go, but another Raiders starter is not.
Fortunately, Bowers was able to get a limited practice in on Saturday, officially making him questionable for Monday. While he should be expected to play, the situation remains fluid and he will be a game-time decision.
However, not every designation on the report was positive.
While linebacker Elandon Roberts is active for Monday, guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is confirmed to be out after missing Friday and Saturday’s practices as part of the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Expect Alex Cappa to slide into Powers-Johnson’s right guard spot, giving the veteran his first taste of action this season.
The Chargers did not escape the injury bug either. Safety Elijah Molden (hamstring) and linebacker Denzel Perryman (ankle) will both be out for the road team on Monday. However, linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips is questionable with a toe injury, while cornerback Tarheeb Still is ready to go against the Raiders.
Bowers having a good chance to play is a positive sign for the Raiders, but how they handle his situation to prevent further injury remains a mystery.
