Three potential trade destinations for Jakobi Meyers

The Las Vegas Raiders were so close to getting through a drama-free offseason.

Then, on Monday, news broke that wide receiver Jakobi Meyers was requesting a trade due to contract negotiations stalling out. So far, the Raiders have already said they are not thinking about a deal yet, mostly due to Meyers having such an important role on offense. However, the signing of Amari Cooper hours later indicate that the team is preparing for life beyond the 1,000-yard receiver.

If the Raiders elect to change their mind and see a deal that is worth their time, here are three teams who could decide to take the plunge.

Minnesota Vikings

It is fair to start with a team that is already confirmed to be looking for options at wide receiver.

Jordan Adison’s three-game suspension already has the Vikings starting on the back foot, and injuries to their depth only serve to weaken the position. While they have entertained a reunion with Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen, they likely did not anticipate Meyers coming into the picture. He would help keep pressure off of Justin Jefferson and give J.J. McCarthy another option to throw to, even after Addison returns to action.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Swapping George Pickens for DK Metcalf is one thing, but the Steelers are a team this is designed to win now.

With quarterback Aaron Rodgers mulling retirement after this season, the Steelers know they will have to find options. Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson could help, but Meyers stands the best chance of making an impact now. Even better for the Steelers is he can be a useful weapon for a rookie quarterback, which Pittsburgh is likely going to pursue in 2026.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have intriguing pieces on offense, but one more would not hurt in the slightest.

Trey McBride is already one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league, but Meyers can help him and sophomore wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. out considerably. Meyers would not only be an upgrade over Michael Wilson on the boundary, but also add a big weapon for quarterback Kyler Murray to target in short-yardage and red zone situations. His complementary style of play to Arizona’s current receiver group would make him an excellent fit there.
