The Las Vegas Aces are set to host the Connecticut Sun for their fourth meeting of the season. The Aces have won all three prior matchups, outscoring the Sun by a combined 69 points. Their most recent game took place on July 6th.

Building on their previous success, the Aces head into tonight’s game as 11.5-point favorites and -750 on the moneyline, while the Sun are +525 underdogs. The total is set at 166.5 points.

The Sun, coming into this matchup, have had a tough season. They sit at the bottom of the WNBA with a 5-24 record and rank last in scoring, offensive rating, and defensive rating.

Tina Charles leads the team with 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Marina Mabrey is the only other player averaging double figures.

On the other side, the Aces are riding a three-game winning streak, are 17-14, and rank eighth in scoring at 81.6 points per game.

A’ja Wilson leads Las Vegas with 21.8 points and 9.2 rebounds, supported by Jackie Young, Jewell Loyd, and Chelsea Gray. NaLyssa Smith has also added a spark since joining the starting lineup.

Furthermore, since moving Loyd to the bench in late July, the Aces have gone 5-1 in their last six games, covering the spread in each of their five wins while playing their best basketball of the season.

As a result of this adjustment, this lineup change has paid off, as Las Vegas now ranks fourth in the league with a net rating of +4.6—a significant improvement from their season-long -1.3 mark. The Aces have also climbed to third in offensive rating during this stretch after spending most of the year around league average.

Loyd’s move to the bench has given the Aces’ second unit a major boost, with her averaging 15.2 points per game on 47.6% shooting in her new role, compared to her season average of 11.4 points on 38.6% shooting.

Given these changes, while it’s still uncertain if the Aces have championship potential with this roster, they’re shaping up to be a formidable playoff team—something that can’t be said for the Sun, who have struggled all season.

Best Bet: Aces -11.5 points at -110 odds

July Record: 21-29-2  -7.95 units
