It took some time to get a deal done, but the Las Vegas Raiders finally got second-round pick Jack Bech under contract on Thursday.
The wide receiver out of TCU was involved in unexpected drama this offseason, as second-round picks across the NFL were hoping to get fully guaranteed money on their rookie deals. While some at the top of the round were able to do so, it has been confirmed that Bech’s contract is not fully guaranteed. It will likely be chalked up as a ‘no harm, no foul’ moment for both player and team, and Bech at least will get most of his first NFL training camp to catch up.
Despite the slight speed bump, Bech already has one major voice vouching for him.
A former All-Pro receiver believes Bech is destined for great things in the NFL.
Responding to the news of Bech signing his rookie contract, former Dallas Cowboys great Dez Bryant posted on X that he expects the wide receiver to have a long NFL career.

While the Raiders expect Bech to live up to those expectations, he comes in to his first training camp with a surprising competition on his hands.
Bech was the first of three receivers drafted by the Raiders in April, and fourth-round pick Dont’e Thornton Jr. has made the most of his fellow rookie’s situation. Thornton has been considered the best rookie during the Raiders’ offseason program so far, and he now has the opportunity to be the rare Day Three rookie that earns a starting role in his first year. Bech and Thornton are both competing with third-year receiver Tre Tucker for what is likely two starting spots behind Jakobi Meyers.
The veterans will join the rookies at Raiders training camp on July 22, so Bech will have to prepare himself for arguably the most exciting position battle of camp.
