Another day and another Eddie Reynoso trained fighter is tested dirty for performance enhancement drugs. When it becomes more than one fighter, when it becomes multiple fighters, it’s no longer a coincidence. The coincidence has left after fighter number two was busted. Now we’re at seven fighters that have been busted. At this point, it is without a doubt that Eddie Reynoso is the dirtiest trainer in boxing. Plain and simple!
Luck #7
The latest Reynoso trained fighter to get busted for PED’s is Francisco Rodriguez Jr. What we all thought was a monumental upset victory over previously unbeaten Galal Yafai is now under serious threat after an adverse analytical finding surfaced from his post fight drug test on the night of their bout. Rodriguez (40-6-1, 27 KOs) delivered a career best performance on June 21, battering Yafai with relentless volume including a flyweight division record 575 punches landed to capture a dominant decision win and the interim WBC flyweight title. The victory was hailed as one of the most impressive upsets of 2024, especially given Yafai’s undefeated record and pedigree as an Olympic gold medalist.
However, the post fight drug test result has cast a shadow over the outcome. An “adverse analytical finding” typically indicates the presence of a banned substance, which could lead to a no contest ruling, a suspension, or stripping of the title pending further investigation and Rodriguez’s right to a B sample test and due process.
If the result is upheld, it could not only nullify the win but severely damage Rodriguez’s career resurgence. The WBC and local commission have yet to issue a formal ruling, but all eyes are now on how swiftly and transparently they act.
