- When: May 23, 2025
- Who: Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars
- Time: 5:00 p.m. PST

The Edmonton Oilers will play the Dallas Stars in Game 2 of the best-of-7 Western Conference Final in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this Friday.
The Stars currently lead the series 1-0, and puck drop is set for 5 p.m. PST at the American Airlines Center. Edmonton’s two-game winning streak ended with a 6-3 defeat in Game 1, where they were +115 road underdogs.
Leon Draisaitl scored one goal and provided two assists, but the Oilers let a 3-1 lead slip away in the third period, conceding five unanswered goals.
Meanwhile, Dallas is riding a two-game winning streak and has secured victories in four of their last five games following Wednesday’s triumph as a -127 home favorite.
Tyler Seguin was instrumental in that win, contributing two goals and an assist.
The matchup in goal features Stuart Skinner (2-4, 3.39 GAA, .872 SV%, 2 SO in the 2024-25 playoffs) going against Jake Oettinger (9-5, 2.51 GAA, .917 SV% in the 2024-25 playoffs).
After a shaky start that saw him benched, Skinner returned as the starting goalie due to an injury to Calvin Pickard and has shown noticeable improvement.
He ended the last series with two consecutive shutouts but struggled in Game 1, allowing five goals and posting a .815 save percentage.
On the other hand, Oettinger has been a reliable presence in goal for the Stars, maintaining a 2.51 GAA throughout the playoffs.
He has a 6-2 record in his last eight postseason starts and consistently limits opponents to three goals or fewer. If he continues performing at this level, the Stars have a strong chance of advancing to the Stanley Cup Final.
Despite trailing for much of Game 1, Dallas took control in the final period with a burst of five goals, shifting the momentum in their favor.
With the opportunity to take a 2-0 lead in front of their home fans, Oettinger and the Stars are determined not to waste it. Edmonton has lost two of its last four games, giving up 10 goals in those defeats.
