It is being reported by BoxingNews.com that a UFC insider has inside information indicating that there is backup plan in place if the heavily anticipated fight between Tom Aspinall and Jon ‘Bones’ Jones doesn’t happen.

UFC analyst and former UFC fighter Din Thomas has claimed that Tom Aspinall could fight Ciryl Gane if the negotiations between Aspinall and Jones are not finalized.

Publicly, Jones hasn’t really shown in any real interest in fighting Aspinall. Fans and the entire combat sporting world are chomping at the bit to see this fight come to fruition.

Welterweight veteran Colby Covington has weighed in on the debate saying that Jones should consider a higher payday to fight Aspinall.

On the other hand, Aspinall believes that Jones is afraid to fight him because he may not match with his skill set.

Jones has been silent in recent months regarding the fight and his future moving forward in the UFC.  Jones recently made a cryptic post on Instagram hinting at the possibility of the potential bought against Aspinall could be his final chapter.

According to Din Thomas, the UFC may have convinced Aspinall to defend his interim title against a number two ranked UFC heavyweight.

Whether or not Thomas is correct in his assumption about how things will pan out, fans will still anticipate to see the fight happen.
