The Vegas Golden Knights will play the Minnesota Wild this Thursday in Game 6 of their first-round series in the Western Conference of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis.

After experiencing two tough losses and trailing 2-1 in the series, the Golden Knights have rallied with two straight victories. They are just one win away from advancing to the next round.

They pulled off a 3-2 overtime win against the Wild on Tuesday. Brett Howden scored the game-winning goal just over four minutes into extra time, marking his third goal of the series.

Conversely, the Wild saw Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy score their fifth goals of the series. This helped push the game into overtime.

Filip Gustavsson started in goal, recording 23 saves on 25 shots before being replaced by three-time Stanley Cup champion Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury ultimately allowed the game-winning goal at the beginning of the third period.

In the goaltending matchup for Game 6, the Golden Knights are sending out Adin Hill (32-13-5, 2.47 GAA, .906 SV%, 4 shutouts during the regular season) in net.

While the Wild are is sending out Filip Gustavsson (31-19-6, 2.56 GAA, .914 SV%, 5 shutouts in the regular season).

Hill is riding a hot streak with back-to-back wins, showcasing his skills in Game 5 by allowing only 2 goals on 22 shots.

Across 6 games against the Golden Knights this season, he has allowed 17 goals on 198 shots. His playoff stats stand at a 4-5 record, with a 2.48 GAA and .920 SV%.

While it might seem like a gamble, I believe the Wild could very well force a Game 7. Despite the Golden Knights winning their last two games, the Wild’s key players have shown more influence than those of Vegas.

Kaprizov and Boldy have combined for an impressive 10 goals and 6 assists, fueling the Wild’s offensive efforts. While Gustavsson was taken out in Game 5, he still holds a reasonable 2.63 GAA and .919 SV% in this series.

Additionally, the Wild’s strong home record of 23-17-3 this season strengthens their chances of keeping the series alive.

The Golden Knights are in for a battle tonight in Minnesota against the Wild. This series has been so close and competitive, it feels like a seventh game is inevitable.

I’ll take the Wild to pull off the upset tonight at home against the Golden Knights.
