- What: NHL Eastern Conference Playoffs First Round Game 1
- When: April 20, 2025
- Who: Ottawa Senators vs. Toronto Maple Leafs
- Time: 4:00 p.m. PST
- Where: Scotiabank Arena (Toronto, ON)
The Ottawa Senators will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series on Sunday at 4 p.m. PST.
The Senators swept the regular-season series against the Leafs, winning all three games, including a 3-0 upset in Toronto on November 12 and a 4-2 victory on March 15.
Toronto’s William Nylander and Auston Matthews scored in the March game, putting the Leafs ahead 2-1. Still, Ottawa responded with goals from David Perron, Claude Giroux (power play), and Michael Amadio to clinch the win with Linus Ullmark in goal.
Ottawa ended the regular season strong, going 6-1-1 in their last eight games. The Leafs also finished hot, securing the Atlantic Division title with a 13-2-1 record over their final 16 games.
Linus Ullmark has been effective for Toronto, with a 4-1-0 record and a 2.44 GAA in April. Meanwhile, backup goaltender Anthony Stolarz is expected to start for Ottawa after winning his last eight regular-season games and posting two shutouts.
The Maple Leafs are favored at -175 as the Atlantic Division champs, but their history of struggles in the playoffs raises doubts. Despite their regular-season losses to the Senators they are favored as they head into this series.
I think the Maple Leafs take the early season lead in this one, I’ll take them on the money line.
Best Bet: Maple Leafs Money Line at -175 odds
