Lady Rebels fall to UNR in doubleheader

The UNLV Lady Rebels fell to in-state rival UNR in both games of the afternoon doubleheader.

This series was a part of the Silver State Series presented by America First.

The Lady Rebels went back-and-forth with the Wolf Pack but dropped 5-4 to end the first game.

In game two, the Lady Rebels were also unsuccessful at achieving the win, falling 4-2. Cherell Aki put on a clinic with a career day going 2-for-3 that included a double, a home run, and a crossed the plate once.

Jesse Ferrell led UNLV in offense through two games going 3-for-7 which included two doubles and a homerun.

In game one, the Lady Rebels started out strong with a two-out rally. Bri Williams drew a walk to start the rally. Jesse Ferrell stepped up to knock out a double to left center to put UNLV runners into scoring position. UNR countered any advance by UNLV and took the lead in the bottom half of the fourth scoring two runs off of three hits, 5-4.

In game two, UNR jumped ahead of the Lady Rebels in the bottom of the first inning scoring one run on two hits, 1-0. In the bottom of the second inning, UNR added another homerun, 2-0. Jesse Ferrell smashed a homerun over the center wall, making it 2-1. UNR then grabbed two more homeruns to go up 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth. The sixth inning was scoreless by both squads. UNR retired the Lady Rebels on a pop fly in the outfield.

The UNLV Lady Rebels will have the weekend off before heading back out on the road to take on San Diego State in a three-game series starting on Friday, April 11 and ending Sunday, April 13.
