- What: NCAA Men’s Sweet 16 Game
- When: March 27, 2025
- Who: BYU Cougars vs. Alabama Crimson Tide
- Time: 4:09 p.m. PST
- Where: Prudential Center (Newark, NJ)
The sixth-seeded BYU Cougars will take on the second-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide in an East Region Sweet 16 clash during the 2025 NCAA Tournament on Thursday.
BYU aims to reach the Elite Eight for the first time since 1981, while Alabama seeks to secure a second straight trip to the Elite Eight.
The Cougars, with a record of 26-9 and a tie for third in the Big 12 Conference at 14-6, have faced ranked teams with a 5-4 record in the 2024-25 season.
The Crimson Tide, boasting a 27-8 record and finishing third in the Southeastern Conference at 13-5, have won 12 out of 19 games against ranked opponents.
These are two of the top offenses in the nation, so it’s clear why the total is set so high.
However, we need to set some limits. A total of 175.5 points implies a score of approximately 90-85 in favor of Alabama.
While that’s certainly possible, any sign of defensive effort or if either team struggles offensively could keep the score under this line.
If you’re leaning towards the over at this amount, everything must fall into place perfectly.
BYU ranks 31st in defensive rebound rate at 73.7%, which should help them minimize the second-chance points that Alabama often capitalizes on.
This situation will likely lead to both teams pushing the pace all game, which will also eat up the clock. I’m going with the under on this one.
