When the Raiders moved to Las Vegas in 2020, they faced an issue that very few teams in the NFL need to consider: the sweltering heat.

In the franchise’s first four years in the desert, training camp was held in Las Vegas during the hottest time of the year in the city. Seeing it as a problem for preparation, the Raiders moved training camp last year to Costa Mesa, California. However, former general manager Tom Telesco noted that the move was temporary, suggesting that the Raiders had other plans in mind.

On Tuesday, new head coach Pete Carroll made the Raiders’ plans for training camp clear, and it involves returning to a place familiar with the fanbase.

According to Carroll, the Raiders will hold their training camp in Napa for 2025.

In a SiriusXM radio interview, according to The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, Carroll mentioned the possibility of the Raiders returning to Napa for this upcoming season’s training camp.

While Tafur did disclaim that the news was not yet finalized, the Raiders holding camp in Napa makes plenty of sense.

When the team returned to Oakland in the mid-90’s, the Raiders held their training camp in Napa every year until the departure to Las Vegas. The training camp setup in Napa was widely regarded as one of the best in the entire NFL during the team’s time there. The Raiders even considered continuing holding training camp in Napa after relocation, but COVID and other restrictions forced the team to remain at their normal facilities in Henderson.

Not only do the Raiders return to their old stomping ground, but they also reunite with a portion of their fanbase that still holds them near and dear to their hearts.

Raiders fans in the Bay Area would fully accept this move if it does happen. The move would also excite the team themselves, which features Napa native and star tight end Brock Bowers. The Raiders’ new offensive dynamo will undoubtedly become the star attraction as the hometown hero, bringing fans to watch training camp in droves.

If Napa is the destination for training camp, the Raiders are in for a treat this summer.
