Raiders given trade idea to secure longtime Pete Carroll favorite

Quarterback is certainly the primary focus of the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, but they will need to offer the resources to help out whoever is under center in 2025.

The Raiders have tight end Brock Bowers and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, as well a promising group emerging on the offensive line. However, the team needs more to keep the pressure off of their top playmakers. Another receiver is expected to come along this offseason, and the running back room is anticipated to undergo drastic changes.

If the Raiders are hoping to make a dramatic upgrade, they need not look further than new head coach Pete Carroll’s former stomping grounds.

The Raiders have the resources to target Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf this offseason.

The 33rd Team’s Marcus Mosher has the Raiders acquiring the two-time Pro Bowl receiver and the 137th pick in this year’s draft from the Seahawks in exchange for their own 37th pick.

“The Raiders desperately need speed on the outside, but they have the rest of the pieces on offense to be a really good unit,” Mosher wrote. “Brock Bowers might be the best tight end in the league, and Jakobi Meyers is a fantastic No. 2 receiver. Michael Mayer and Tre Tucker give them depth and talent in the passing game, but they need a vertical X receiver that can keep the safeties from crowding the line of scrimmage.”

“We know how much Pete Carroll loves Metcalf, and there would be no problem with him fitting into the culture of Las Vegas. Giving up a second-round pick feels a bit steep, but a third-round pick probably wouldn’t get it done.”

While it sounds ridiculous to think the Seahawks would actually trade Metcalf, there are plenty of factors that make a deal sound reasonable.

Metcalf’s current deal expires after the 2025 season, and none of his salary for this season is guaranteed. With the Seahawks currently over the salary cap, they will need to move out some money. Also up for consideration is upcoming decisions on impact players such as quarterback Geno Smith and left tackle Charles Cross.

Bringing in Metcalf would indicate the Raiders are planning to make the jump back to relevance.
