A non-conference showdown between two teams takes a dramatic turn after the trade deadline as the Dallas Mavs welcome the Miami Heat for the last game before the All-Star break on Thursday night.

Miami recently traded the unhappy star Jimmy Butler to Golden State in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and is now adapting to a new lineup.

However, they’ve already been adjusting to life without Butler for some time. Stepping up in his absence is All-Star forward Bam Adebayo, who contributes not only to scoring and rebounding but also significantly to playmaking.

Miami

The Heat are headed into Thursday’s game on a three-game losing streak, following a 115-101 defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.

Bam Adebayo was a standout performer, contributing 27 points and 15 rebounds, but Miami struggled with their long-range shooting, finishing 11-for-34 from beyond the arc.

Earlier this season, Adebayo recorded a double-double in an overtime victory against the Mavs in November, scoring 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out five assists in a 123-118 win while favored by three points at home.

Notably, Miami has enjoyed success against Southwest Division teams, winning their last five matchups.

Dallas

The focal point of the return for Doncic was nine-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis. Unfortunately, the former Lakers and Pelicans standout had to leave the second half of his debut game due to a groin injury and is anticipated to be sidelined for several weeks.

Despite this setback, the Mavs clinched a 111-107 victory over the Golden State Warriors, triumphing as 7.5-point home underdogs on Wednesday night.

This win marked the fifth consecutive time Dallas has covered the spread, and they have also won and covered in six out of the last ten matchups against Miami.

Kyrie Irving showcased his skills with 42 points and seven rebounds in the game against Golden State, and he will continue to shoulder a significant responsibility with seven players currently on the injury report for the Mavericks.

Heat-Mavs Best Bet

The Mavs continue to be a team that mystifies me, I don’t understand the public’s fascination with this Mavericks squad. Give me the Heat tonight.

Best Bet: Heat Money Line at -120 odds.
