Breaking!!! In the crazy carousel of who’s going to fight Canelo Alvarez hasn’t taken another turn as his announced fight with Jake Paul has been called off with the expectation of salvaging his proposed fight with Terence Crawford.
Turki Alalshik is looking to sign Alvarez to a four-fight deal which will initially take place during his signature fight weekend of Cinco De Mayo. Opponents for May 4th haven’t been finalized but William Scull and Jermall Charlo names have been mentioned.
‼️ Turki Alalshikh has said that Canelo Alvarez will fight in May in Riyadh, then face Terence Crawford in September, and then fight two more times under Riyadh Season in 2026.

Leverage play?
Paul vs Alvarez seemed to be a done deal tonight but in a sudden twist it seems like Paul was being used as leverage. The whole country started talking about another Jake Paul fight but finally against a elite fighter. That fight was going to start a snowball effect to create a promotional juggernaut. Paul knows that he will do huge numbers with Canelo which is also intriguing to king of the super middleweights. There’s no secret that Canelo fights twice a year which is on Cinco De Mayo weekend and Mexican Independence Day weekend.
Knowing that Canelo needed to find an opponent, Paul almost manifested a long awaited fight with Canelo. But with a possible multi fight deal on the line it looks like Canelo will be walking away and will be sticking to fighting real fighters. That’s a stance that’s going to sit well with traditional boxing fans.
But with Crawford back in the picture for a late summer showdown, now fight fans can go back to being excited for the time being. Boxing fans haven’t been on a emotional rollercoaster like this in a while. It’s not everyday when you have breaking news twice in one night. Crawford is excited and ready to get this fight signed. Crawford took to X and commented on the future fight.
“I’m waiting on Canelo in September and going to shock the world in Riyadh Season”
