Golden Knights’ Roy felt ‘good’ in return

Vegas Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy returned to the ice after missing the past 11 games with an upper-body injury.

He tallied an assist in 17:03 of ice time in the 4-1 victory against the Minnesota Wild at T-Mobile Arena on Sunday.

“It feels pretty good. Felt like a long time watching the boys,” Roy said. “They did a great job [without me], but it’s nice to be back, for sure.”

Roy centered the third line alongside Keegan Kolesar and Brett Howden. The trio was solid together and helped Roy acclimate to playing by giving him familiar linemates.

“We’re trying to keep it simple. We know what we’re going to get from each other,” Roy said. “Obviously, it helped me a lot to play with those two coming back. Like I said, simple game. I like to go on the forecheck, retrieve pucks, and be net front.”

Roy has 14 points this season (six goals, seven assists).

It remains to be seen which line he’ll center or if he moves to the wing once Jack Eichel returns. Eichel missed Sunday’s game due to illness, but Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy anticipates Eichel to be back by Tuesday.

“I don’t think Jack is long-term. It’s an illness,” Cassidy said. “It’s probably one of those quick ones that he’ll be fine. I don’t know if that is a fact, but my guess is he’ll be back in [against Nashville].”
