On Monday, Antonio Pierce announced that he would be retaining his spot as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders for the 2025 season.
Pierce was one of the more hotly-debated candidates to lose his job on the NFL’s Black Monday, but he will receive a second full season at the helm.
Here is how Raiders fans are reacting after the news of Pierce staying:
When Antonio Pierce keep his job today the “commitment to excellence” standard the Raiders have is officially dead. The state of the organization is so sad that to keep your job all you had to do was beat Mac Jones and Spencer Rattler to stay as a head coach. It’s embarrassing https://t.co/gaAazpNHqh

I’ll say this.
Antonio Pierce and Tom Telesco both know they are in the hot seat now. They have to go all in the offseason.
Aidan O’Connell isn’t it either. Yesterday was a wake up call be aggressive trade for a QB or do something.
All the attention on you guys.

I love the ineptitude of the Raiders. Extend Antonio Pierce!

You have in the division
-Andy Reid
-Jim Harbaugh
-Sean PaytonYou go 4-13 and your decision as an owner is to keep Antonio Pierce. What an absolute joke

Please unfollow me if you believe retaining Antonio Pierce was the right decision. I don’t want you anywhere near me

Raiders lost to their division opponents by a score of 165-104 (0-6 in those games). The average score was 28-17.
Yet I’m supposed to be optimistic about the combination of Antonio Pierce and Aidan O’Connell next year?

While the news of Pierce staying did not resonate well with some fans, others gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Consistency and stability is needed.
Sounds like the Raiders are indeed keeping head coach Antonio Pierce. I’m good with it. He just needs solid coordinators and a QB. #RaiderNation pic.twitter.com/i22ZqANcAj— Austin (@Austinrnww) January 6, 2025
Antonio Pierce does NOT deserve to be fired at all. It’s not his fault they didn’t have a QB. He did the best he could with the players on the roster. The GM should be on the hot seat not him. #RaiderNation

Isn’t Antonio Pierce’s ability to keep this team fighting impressive in its own right. I think people severely underrate his ability as a motivator and leader of men.
It’s hard to find a great football mind but equally as hard to find someone players continue to fight for. pic.twitter.com/Amf1NQgJTV

Wasn’t the whole point of firing Raiders coach Antonio Pierce, was to bring in Mike Vrabel as their next head coach? So now that it looks like Vrabel will be hired by the Patriots, it makes no sense for the Raiders to fire Antonio Pierce anymore
