2025 is shaping up to be another big year in Las Vegas sports. 2024 was a massive year with the Super Bowl and other major events coming into town.
So, let’s look at some things that may happen in the upcoming year.
Here are five predictions for 2025:
Golden Knights make Stanley Cup in 2025
The Vegas Golden Knights look like a dominant team in the West. They sit in first place in the entire NHL via points percentage, and Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said this team reminds him of the team that won the Stanley Cup in 2022-23.
The difference in this go-around, however, will be the result. It will be a tight series against the New Jersey Devils, but the Golden Knights will fall short of winning their second Stanley Cup.
As if predicting the Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils making the Stanley Cup final wasn’t bold enough, let’s go for a bolder prediction: The Devils win in Game 7 in a 3-2 game.
Raiders rebuild through talent hoarding
In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders took the best player available in Brock Bowers.
Bold prediction: they won’t trade up. Instead of selling the farm to get a franchise quarterback, the Raiders opt to take the best talent available to stock the cupboard a little more for a franchise quarterback down the road. The Raiders will, however, draft a quarterback, but his name won’t be Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.
The A’s get closer to move to Las Vegas
There have been a lot of starts and stops concerning the Athletics coming to Las Vegas. While many are predicting more delays, let’s go the opposite direction. The A’s will provide a concrete update on the status of the stadium. Even bolder: a groundbreaking will be announced just in time for a 2028 Opening Day debut.
Las Vegas gets another Super Bowl in 2029
It’s inevitable that Las Vegas will get another Super Bowl. It’s not a matter of if, but when. Given the lifecycles of Super Bowl, it’s unlikely that Allegiant Stadium will host another Super Bowl until sometime after 2030. But what if, the NFL decides that Las Vegas was too good to pass up again and opts to return to Allegiant Stadium five years after the first? It has happened before with So-Fi Stadium. It could happen again.
Logan and Jake Paul continue to run boxing
This one isn’t much of a stretch, but boxing is lacking major stars. It has good fighters all around the sport, but none have the gravitas of the Paul Brother, who will continue to draw massive audiences for their fight. Jake will eventually move into a more serious boxing role, where he will be finally tested by a legit boxer (i.e. not an old legend or transitioning MMA fighter). Logan will make his money in freak show fights, like the rumored bout with Conor McGreggor and will continue his career in the WWE. Overall, the Paul Brothers, love them or hate them, will continue to run boxing.
