Runnin’ Rebels look to continue win streak against Fresno State

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (6-5) begin Mountain West play after the holiday against the Fresno State Bulldogs (4-8) after the holiday break.

The Runnin’ Rebels come into this game after a victory against the UCR Highlanders 66-53.

The Runnin’ Rebels have had a steady group in Dedan Thomas, Jr., Jeremiah Cherry, Julian Rishwain, Jaden Henley, and Jailen Bedford. Thomas leads the Runnin’ Rebels, averaging 16.5 points per game. Jeremiah Cherry leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.

Against the UCR Highlanders, Thomas led the team in scoring with 15 points and dished out five assists. The Runnin’ Rebels shot 55.2% from the floor and held UCR to just 24.3% from the field.

A key for the Runnin’ Rebels against the Bulldogs is to continue to turn up the pressure on both sides of the ball by knocking down shots, sinking their free-throws, and box out in the paint.

The Fresno Bulldogs are coming off a loss to the California Baptist Lancers, 69-86 last Saturday. The Bulldogs had four Bulldogs in double digits. Guard Zaon Collins led the team with 14 points and six assists.

The Runnin’ Rebels must find a way to use their defense to smother the Bulldogs and keep their feet on the gas the entire game.

The Runnin’ Rebels will meet the Bulldogs on Saturday, December 28th at the Thomas & Mack Center at 7 p.m.
