The UNLV Lady Rebels (7-4) closed their Midwestern trip, losing overtime to the Northwestern Wildcats (6-4), 76-79.
The Lady Rebels were 1-1 in the Midwestern road trip. They were victorious against the DePaul Blue Demons, winning 80-61.
Kimpson & Co.
Guard Amarachi Kimpson came up big for the Lady Rebels scoring 28 points and playing 42 minutes, going 10-11 from the free-throw line, and she also snatched down 4 rebounds. Aaliyah Alexander also added 16 points and played 37 minutes. Meadow Roland got in on the act, scoring 12 points and going 5-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the three-point line. McKinna Brackens did what she does best in the paint. She nabbed eight rebounds and collected a career-high five assists. Brackens also blocked a career-high three shots. She led the Lady Rebels in both fields.
A Shootout
The Northwestern Wildcats had five players who scored in double digits, led by Melannie Daley, who scored 21 points. Grace Sullivan scored 14 points, and Caileigh Walsh added 13 points. Although the Wildcats took the win in overtime, the Lady Rebels and Wildcats switched leads 18 times, and the two teams were tied 17 times during the game. With a layup and a foul in the fourth quarter to complete a three-point play, Amarachi Kimpson pulled the Lady Rebels to within one of the Wildcats. The Wildcats would go on to go up by seven, scoring six straight points to bring the score to 60-53. The two teams would go on to trade baskets back and forth for three minutes.
This was the first overtime game for the Lady Rebels.
