Boxing News said the welterweights Joaquin Buckley and Colby Covington clashed over the weekend. Both fighters were under a lot of pressure.
Joaquin Buckley was the heavy favorite to win the fight and succeeded. Covington, on the other hand, came into the fight with a chip on his shoulder for the simple fact he had lost two of his last three fights.
Buckley pounded Covington with his right for most of the fight. There was one point in the fight, where a cage side-doctor looked at Covington. He was bleeding early before the second round started.
Buckley continued the onslaught with his right, laying into Covington from every angle.
After the fight, Buckley said, “My first main event was a big success, I feel like the whole card was very successful. I feel like my fight, you know, shouldn’t have been stopped but you know, it is what it is… You’ve got to protect the fighters. I feel like 2025 is definitely [going to be] my year, and we’re definitely taking over… With this being said, [I’m on] a six-fight winning streak.”
MMA Pro Terrance McKinney seems to agree with UFC fans. On X.com (formally twitter) he said, “Buckley beat the hell out of Colby for 3 rounds, he is him #UFCTampa”
UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad also chimed in via X.com, https://x.com/bullyb170/status/1868179420047106507.
Even UFC Flyweight Champion, Henry Cejudo added, “Buckley has the most knockouts in the UFC since 2020 #UFCTampa” Via X.com

It seems that everyone is in agreement that UFC Tampa was not Covington’s best performance.
