WATCH: Golden Knights coach calls defensive effort one of the best

LAS VEGAS – The Vegas Golden Knights put on a defensive clinic in the third period of their 1-0 victory against the Edmonton Oilers at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday.

The Golden Knights faced 16 shots in the final 20 minutes and seemed stuck in their end for most of the third period. Adin Hill made all 16 saves. The Golden Knights blocked 22 throughout the entire game.

Despite this, Vegas seemed poised and under control despite the pressure. It withstood the storm that the Oilers offered and walked away with a victory.

“We did our jobs well. That’s what you have to do against Edmonton. It’s no easy task when [Connor] McDavid‘s coming at you fast and [Leon] Draisaitl is a strong guy through the neutral zone,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “But we were able to check in layers against them. I think that’s when we’re the most effective. So I would say, if it wasn’t the best of the year, it was pretty darn close in terms of what we did well.”

It was a clear improvement from the last time the Golden Knights took the ice.
