3 reasons why Errol “The Truth” Spence may not regain his championship form

Where is Errol Spence? He’s been out of the ring for over a year at this point and it is still uncertain on when he will be making his return. A lot of fight fans have doubts that the former undisputed champion will ever win another championship again. Here are a few reasons why it’s possible that ‘The truth’ will never be the same.

1. Mega Fight disaster

The fight that boxing fans were looking forward to for years finally happened. Unfortunately, the fight did not live up to the hype at all. Terance Crawford mopped the floor with Spence and it wasn’t pretty. Fans were shocked to see Spence get beat up by Crawford. Eventually, Crawford would have a TKO of Spence in the 9th round. Many fight fans wonder after taking a beating like that, if Spence ever be the same.

2. Inactivity

Inactivity is the worst thing possible for an aging fighter. It’s been 16 months since Spence’s last fight and in the best-case scenario, his return happens in three months, which adds up to a total of 19 months. That’s a very long time to be inactive. Especially for a former champion that’s looking to regain his championship form. Time is not on his side and the longer he’s away from the ring, the less sharp he may appear. Inactivity is one of a few reasons why fight fans aren’t confident in Spence returning to form.

3. Lack of fire

Accomplishing everything that Spence has in boxing, is there anything that motivates him further? There was a rumored match-up with WBC and WBO Super Welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora. Since then, we haven’t heard anything about this proposed match. When Spence was at his best you could easily see a game plan of Spence trying to punish Fundora’s body especially since he stands at 6’5. But looking at the length of the young 26-year-old, that could offer a lot of problems for the former champion.

Hopefully, we see Spence make an appearance in the ring soon. Fans would love for him to regain his form and continue to fight for titles. But as time continues to pass, the more likely we’re not going to see Spence in championship form.
