The Oklahoma City Thunder will play the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night in an eagerly awaited Western Conference matchup.

This game marks their second encounter of the season. Will the Nuggets be able to claim the first victory over OKC?

The Thunder have emerged as a surprising force in the early NBA season. They boast an undefeated record backed by impressive performances on offense and defense.

OKC Thunder

Point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, averaging 25.7 points and 6.9 assists per game, and center Chet Holmgren, contributing 17.1 points and 9.7 rebounds, have been pivotal in leading Oklahoma City.

Conversely, the Nuggets have had a rocky start to the season, holding a 4-3 record.

Although Nikola Jokic continues to shine with impressive stats, the team has struggled with consistency and depth.

The Thunder’s stifling defense should challenge Denver’s supporting players, putting more pressure on Jokic to perform.

With their current momentum and collective team play, the Thunder are in a solid position to achieve a victory on the road, reinforcing their status as early contenders in the Western Conference.

Their well-rounded offensive strategy, combined with the strongest defense in the league that allows only 95.9 points per game, makes them a challenging opponent for the struggling Nuggets.

The key to OKC’s perfect 7-0 start has been their ability to restrict opponents’ scoring while executing their offensive plans effectively.

Denver Nuggets

Despite a slow start, the Nuggets have star player center Nikola Jokic, who averages 29.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per game.

Playing at home provides the Nuggets an advantage, as the altitude can hinder the Thunder’s fast-paced style. Although the Thunder are 7-0, they have vulnerabilities, and the Nuggets’ playoff experience could give them a mental boost.

Key players like forward Michael Porter Jr. and guard Russell Westbrook will need to contain the Thunder’s dynamic duo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren.

The Nuggets are dealing with injury issues, and the Thunder have enough depth to challenge Jokic, but forward Aaron Gordon and guard Jamaal Murray are unavailable.

Thunder-Nuggets Best Bet

If the Nuggets can control the game’s tempo, they have a strong chance of handing the Thunder their first loss. The spread in this game is seven points. Oddsmakers favoring the Thunder makes sense considering how wounded the Nuggets are.

However, I disagree with them and will back the Nuggets at home and the seven and a half points. While the Thunder may still win this one it will be a closer game than anticipated.

Nuggets +7.5 points at BetMGM is the best bet in this one.
