This week has been very turbulent week for UNLV football. Things looked to have been going in the right direction. As the team are off to their best start in 40 years. UNLV who is ranked for the first time ever is looking to continue their perfect season against Mountain West rival Fresno State today at 12:30 pm at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV.

After Matthew Sluka decided to leave the school in the middle of an NIL debate, he left the school is a very tough spot. So now that leaves UNLV picking up the pieces and giving their keys to the offense to Senior Hajj-Malik Williams.

Hajj-Malik Williams was a star at Campbell, leading the program to a 6-1 start as a freshman in 2020, but he spent most of the 2021 hampered by injury. Williams arrived on campus in the winter and battled for the starting job through the spring and summer before Sluka arrived in mid-June and named the starter ahead of the season opener.

Teammates are behind Williams

Teammates all responded to a post a social media saying that Williams is indeed QB1. That’s a great sign for a team that’s trying to continue the momentum of their historic season.

For the first time ever, all eyes are on the UNLV Football team. UNLV Basketball has been in the spotlight but never their football team. Williams has an opportunity to write one of the best stories in college sports if he can salvage the season.
