Thursday Night Football for NFL Week 3 will feature the New England Patriots taking on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on Prime Video.
New England Patriots
Jacoby Brissett and the Patriots have been averaging 5.3 yards per pass and 4.6 yards per carry, highlighting the significance of their ground game.
With 110 more rushing yards (355) than passing yards (245) on the season, it’s clear that New England’s running game has been crucial. As a result, New York will probably focus on stacking the box against the Patriots.

The Patriots’ offense has surpassed expectations, ranking 16th in EPA. They have excelled in passing the ball and maintaining a high success rate, ranking eighth in that category.
What’s even more impressive is that they achieved this against the Bengals and Seahawks defenses, both of which are among the top 12 in generating pressure.
New York Jets
The Jets have faced some challenges, starting the season with a loss to San Francisco in Week 1. In Week 2, Aaron Rodgers and the team faced added pressure with two consecutive road games but secured a 24-17 win over the Titans.
Despite the victory, the game had flaws, as the Titans outgained the Jets in total yards. If it weren’t for two timely turnovers by the home team, the Jets might have entered Thursday Night Football with a 0-2 record.

The Jets are currently favored by 6 points, with the game total set at 38.5. Given the game’s very low total, expecting the Jets to win by a touchdown or more might be challenging. This is the most points the Jets have been favored by against New England since 2000.
Patriots-Jets Best Bet
This is a tough one to pick, the spread is pretty large considering the very low total. The Jets opened as 7.5-point favorites but it has quickly been bet down to 6 points at most sportsbooks.
The total opened at 42 points and has been bet down to 38.5 points. Everything about this game indicates it’s going to be a defensive slugfest between these two teams.
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense hasn’t been much better than last season, while the Patriots have played sound football, avoiding turnovers and keeping games close.
This is also the Jets home opener so I believe the crowd will be a factor. I am going to back the Jets and lay the 6 points in this one.
It’s not a pretty pick, but the Patriots are coming off a tough overtime loss to the Seahawks and will have to start a couple of rookie offensive lineman. This should be an advantage for the Jets.
